When youre invited
over for Thanksgiving dinner, you know what your return on investment will
be: good food and drink, camaraderie, maybe some football and a family
squabble or two. That is why you go. But when you invite attendees
to your booth, do they know what their reward will be?
Like most of us, attendees
are selfish and want to know what is the benefit to me in visiting your
exhibit? As many of you know, a pre-show mailer will increase booth
attendance by over 30%. But are these qualified attendees, the ones
you want to talk to? To insure that they are, your pre-show promotion
should tell them specifically why they need to visit your exhibit.
Give them the full menu including dessert.
Remember that 76% of attendees
arrive with an agenda. They have already decided who to visit.
You want to be on their list so make sure your promotion places you there.
This will increase your attendance, improve your return on investment and
keep your show from being a turkey.

Article: Increasing Your Show's Success & R.O.I. |
One
of the primary concerns for companies in today's economy is the return
on investment (R.O.I.) from any business decision. Those who exhibit products
and/or services at tradeshows and events are faced with the concern of
how to increase the return from their exhibit programs.
A significant
factor for improving your R.O.I. from exhibiting is to figure out how to
draw the maximum number of your qualified "potential audience" to your
exhibit.
There
are only two groups of people that attend tradeshows and events! Those
people that you are "Aware of" and those people that you are "Not Aware
of". (Granted there are also those people that are aware of you, due to
your successful advertising methods or by word of mouth, but since you
do not know who they are, they are classified as those that you are "Not
Aware of.")
The
best way to attract those people that you are "Aware of", people who are
either your customers or known prospects is through the use of Pre-Show
Promotions. And the good news, according to Exhibitor Magazine, is that
exhibitors have increased their promotions budget on the national average
from 3% to 6.1% of their total exhibit budget within the past several years.
Studies
show that the Five Most Successful Methods of pre-show promotions are:
1.
Personal Letters with an Invitation
2.
Personal Fax
3.
Personal Phone Call
4.
A Direct Mail Piece
5.
A Personal Email.
Following
is a list of additional pre-show promotion methods:
*News
Releases *Media Interviews
*Website
Ads *Telemarketing
*Voice
Mails *Phone-hold Messages
*Press
Releases *Personal Visits
The
more methods you use the more successful you will be in getting people
that you are "Aware of" to visit your exhibit. It is also very important
to identify what the benefit is for your potential audience to visit your
exhibit. Just because you are going to be exhibiting at the show is not
a good enough reason for them to take their time to visit you. Give them
a "valuable reason" to spend their time with you.
Thoroughly
explain what the benefit is for them to visit you. You need to analyze
what your marketplace needs to make their lives better...their primary
concerns. Make their decision an easy one...provide them a good reason,
a clear benefit that they can use. One that will make their life more enjoyable,
easier, less stressful, more enlightened, less hectic, more productive,
less demanding, more profitable, etc.
A key
to successful exhibiting for your potential audience that you are Aware
of is for you to become a "target", a must see exhibit. You accomplish
this through Pre-Show Promotions.
