What About the Attendee's ROI?
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm here to tell you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Remember when you were 8 and little Billy stole your girlfriend Kate and your mother simply told you that she wasn't worth having anyway? Your mother was a very wise woman.
Yes attendance is down, but that's not a bad thing. Company's just aren't sending their entire staffs anymore; they're only sending the people who need to be there. This simply means this: A) We don't have to work as hard trying to qualify the people we talk to at shows, and B) We really ought to brush up on our presentations, because most of the people we're talking to ARE the key people.
| Another thing that we are unfortunately forgetting all too often is
this--we're not (as exhibitors) the only ones with an investment here.
It costs the average company between $5-7,000 to send each attendee to
these shows! Between the 4 days of salary, entrance fees, plane tickets,
accommodations and meals, costs add up fast, so let's not waste anyone's
time here.
We need to stop reeling off the same old spiel that we've been doing
for years and start communicating. We need to ask questions of every attendee
that walks in our booth and find out what we can do for them and make sure
that when they leave our booth they know exactly what we can do for them
specifically. We need to make sure that we're following up with these leads
after the show. And we need to make sure that we're acknowledging the fact
that each attendee has an investment here too.

| Unlike the leprechaun who relies on luck,
we prefer to rely on planning to complete your exhibit shipments; however,
the conflict in the Middle East is sure to affect our planning.
As you know, additional fuel surcharges of 3-5% are already being added due to the higher costs of gasoline. As conflict escalates though, it is possible that delivery times for shipments will be extended as well--primarily air shipments. |
