Two Key Words That May Save Your Life--Prioritize and Organize
It's no secret that organization is the key to simplifying your daily tasks, but the same is also true for those specialty tasks that require a little more attention, trade shows for example. 

In an environment where rush charges and overcharges run rampant, it is imperative that you have a well-organized system that allows you to recognize and differentiate between them all. 

    Prioritize. By prioritizing your shows first by date, then by importance, and knowing which shows you'd like to attend at least 6 months in advance, you can greatly reduce unnecessary and unexpected costs.Order show services well in advance. Most of the time discounts are offered to exhibitors who order their services early.Keep all of your costs in one place. Pay all of your show services with one credit account this way you can quickly check over the show charges to make sure everything is in order. Compare your receipts with your credit card statements to make sure that you haven't been charged more than once for the same service and that there are no unauthorized charges.
  • Repair it quickly. If your booth requires repairs, order the repairs when the booth returns from the show it was damaged at, not right before it leaves for the next show. 
    • Use vendors and shipping agents that have trade show experience. This business is a little bit different than just moving freight and requires a lot of attention. Working with companies that understand this will save you hours of unnecessary phone calls.Sometimes it's better to rent. Compare the costs before you ship all of your properties from one side of the world to the other. This is especially relevant to flooring and heavy exhibits.
If your company attends more than two or three shows in a year, and this isn't your primary job function, it would probably serve your company very well to allow your exhibit house to handle your show services. They are experienced and prepared to deal with any complications that may arise. 

No matter who takes care of the handling and logistics of your trade shows though, remember the "Budget Battles" are won and lost in the details.

 Here are a few tips from the experts on how to treat your feet when you're working (or walking) those grueling trade show floors:

1. Wear comfortable shoes. No, not your tennies, and not those deck shoes that you've had since college. Your shoes should be clean and well kept, but make sure they're broken in and very comfortable. Avoid wearing brand new shoes and make sure you can't feel the seams from your socks. If you can feel it, it'll probably leave an unwanted souvenir by way of a blister.

2. Bring extra shoes to the show floor. By changing your shoes midday, you'll relieve much of the stress on your feet and lower back, especially if the shoes have a different size heel. 

3. Take an aspirin or ibuprofen in the morning. This will help ward off any swelling that may occur during the day. Remember that prevention is always the best remedy.

4. Reward your feet. They've probably worked the hardest. Start my soaking your feet in warm soapy water and give them a light scrub. Rinse them in cold water, and before you go to bed massage them with some pleasantly scented lotion and put on some warm comfy socks. If your feet are especially tired, replace the scented lotion with BenGay or IcyHot; your feet will be good as new by morning.
