What About the Attendee's ROI
?

Times are tough and marketing budgets are diminishing, so everyone is demanding the most from their dollar. Companies are dropping out of trade shows left and right while at the same time requiring their staff to generate the same amount of leads at half as many shows. And to top it off, attendance is down an average of 30%!

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm here to tell you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Remember when you were 8 and little Billy stole your girlfriend Kate and your mother simply told you that she wasn't worth having anyway? Your mother was a very wise woman.

Yes attendance is down, but that's not a bad thing. Company's just aren't sending their entire staffs anymore; they're only sending the people who need to be there. This simply means this: A) We don't have to work as hard trying to qualify the people we talk to at shows, and B) We really ought to brush up on our presentations, because most of the people we're talking to ARE the key people.

Another thing that we are unfortunately forgetting all too often is this--we're not (as exhibitors) the only ones with an investment here. It costs the average company between $5-7,000 to send each attendee to these shows! Between the 4 days of salary, entrance fees, plane tickets, accommodations and meals, costs add up fast, so let's not waste anyone's time here.

We need to stop reeling off the same old spiel that we've been doing for years and start communicating. We need to ask questions of every attendee that walks in our booth and find out what we can do for them and make sure that when they leave our booth they know exactly what we can do for them specifically. We need to make sure that we're following up with these leads after the show. And we need to make sure that we're acknowledging the fact that each attendee has an investment here too.

Unlike the leprechaun who relies on luck, we prefer to rely on planning to complete your exhibit shipments; however, the conflict in the Middle East is sure to affect our planning.

As you know, additional fuel surcharges of 3-5% are already being added due to the higher costs of gasoline. As conflict escalates though, it is possible that delivery times for shipments will be extended as well--primarily air shipments.

Air shipments many times rely on standard commercial flights. If a war actually starts, there will be a reduction in the number of flights available as travelers cancel their plans. This reduces the number of options to move freight which could increase delivery times.

To preclude missing any show dates, we recommend that you add several days to whatever shipping schedule you normally use. We will do our best to keep you updated as this situation unfolds.
