Dear Exhibitors:

Just as there are varying opinions as to the origin of St. Valentine's Day, there are similarly varying opinions about the necessity of trade show marketing. I'd like to extinguish this myth once and for all.

Myth: Trade Shows are Dead!

Yes, attendance is down 4.5% and space rental 1.4%, but other business-to-business advertising is down 6-19%. However, some shows such as CES 2003 (Consumer Electronics Show) continue to increase in size and attendance.

Feedback from many of our clients indicates that their attendance is lower, but they are still meeting the desired key contacts. In fact, it is easier to find them and spend time with them due to the lower attendance. In my opinion, the key contacts have always been there, but were hard to find amidst the throngs of secondary people.

Before losing heart, evaluate your trade show program by looking at the number of key contacts reached, not just the volume of leads. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Sincerely,

How do you know when it's
Time to Rent?

We decked the halls, we trimmed the trees, we cooked the food. We ate the food, we opened the gifts, we got rid of the tree. We paid the bills and paid the bills and paid more bills, and just when we thought that we've finally recovered from our annual holiday ritual, we remember that we've completely forgotten about our trade show program. Eek!

Unless you've got a show coming up on February 15th, have no fear. But even then, fear not--Rentals to the Rescue! Now would be the perfect example of when renting an exhibit is appropriate.

If this isn't your situation, then ask yourself whether or not you're in one of the following situations before you decide whether or not renting is right for you.If you're nodding your head while reading any one of the following scenarios, then renting probably makes sense for you.

1. You want to make a bigger presence at a particular show, so you've rented more booth space, but your existing exhibit isn't big enough to fill the space. In this situation you could either rent an entire exhibit or just rent some additional properties that will compliment your exhibit and fill in the extra space.

2. You want to change the look of your existing exhibit, but you don't have the budget to buy a new one. Sometimes graphics just don't give you a different enough look when you're looking for a change.

3. The show is on the other side of the country, and you just don't think it's worth shipping your bulky booth. In this case, renting an exhibit from an exhibit house near to the show might make sense. Or perhaps you'll want to bring the main structure, but rent the carpet and some counters.

4. Your company only does 2 shows a year, and you just can't justify spending the money to buy a new one yet.

Whatever your situation, exploring all of you options is always the best method to making a decision. Your exhibit house has the experience and knowledge to help you decide what is right for you and your company.

If you have any other questions about renting an exhibit, or to talk with someone about a specific rental project, please contact: info@advancedexhibitmethods.com

Do you love your exhibit? Does it love you? If not, maybe a little TLC will help the relationship. A bent modular frame or bent tube on a pop-up is not always evident from casual observation, but it can be the cause of graphic misalignment, doors that don't close properly or an unstable frame.

If your exhibit is stored with AEM, we constantly look for these potential problems. But if your exhibit is stored elsewhere, maybe it is time for an "exhibit tune-up". We can review your hardware's integrity, graphics and cases. A report will be sent to you with the diagnosis including a quote for any repairs, if necessary.

Remember this Valentine's month; give your exhibit some TLC with an "Exhibit Tune-up" and keep the chocolates for yourself. You will both feel better.
